Aras Newborn Care Ethiopia Launched–Signs MOU with University of Gondar (UOG) Comprehensive Specialized Hospital

On December 8, 2025, Aras Newborn Care Ethiopia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UOG launching a shared commitment to improve neonatal services and outcomes. This partnership aligns with the university’s mission to strengthen newborn care through sustainable, evidence-based interventions and collaborative capacity building. UOG, the region’s major referral hospital, annually schedules over 20,000 antenatal care visits  and manages over 5,000 complex deliveries, offering critical neonatal support services.

With the launch, Aras Newborn Care Ethiopia will support UOG  in three areas (1) education and workforce capacity building, including training for midwives, residents, and healthcare providers; (2) infrastructure mobilization to strengthen neonatal care delivery systems and resources; and (3) community outreach and advocacy to promote awareness, early care-seeking, and improved maternal and newborn health practices. At the signing ceremony, Aras Newborn Care Ethiopia delivered vital newborn supplies, computers and networking equipment, to improve the quality of newborn resuscitation services and implement an electronic medical records system. Through this partnership, Aras and UOG commit to advance neonatal health and improve outcomes for thousands of newborns and families across the region.
